The mission of CCS Libraries is to foster the relationship between research, critical thinking, artmaking, and design ideation. To achieve that end, the Library staff is committed to developing distinctive collections, curating relevant electronic resources, and providing high-quality instruction and patron services.
CCS Libraries operate from two locations. The Main Campus Library in the Manoogian Visual Resource Center on the Ford Campus features a vast collection of print books, videos, and periodicals that support all areas of study at the college. Here you will also find private and group study rooms, the director’s office, Luna image collection development and training, and the CCS Archive. The Color and Materials Library, located in Room 910 of The Taubman Center for Design Education, features a substantial and frequently updated collection of material samples, color reference tools, and books and periodicals more specific to the design disciplines. Both Libraries have computers and scanners for student use. CCS Libraries eBooks, ejournals, databases, digital images, and streaming video can be accessed from any computer on or off-campus. For more specific information concerning Library hours, collections, research guides, and services, visit the Library website.
Current students, faculty, and staff can access subscription online resources using Blackboard credentials; for checking out physical materials, a current CCS ID is required. Alumni have limited check-out privileges. Visit the libguide Alumni Resources for details.
